ACTC Training Initiatives & Institutes

Trauma 101 training focuses on understanding how trauma impacts the body and the brain, how people adapt to trauma, and what we can do as providers and community members to support recovery and resiliency. The Trauma 101 training is not a training on a specific type of intervention, but is focused on how we can use a better understanding of trauma to be trauma-informed.

Please note: There is no charge to participate in Trauma 101 trainings, but participants must register in advance. For more information, please contact the Alaska Child Trauma Center’s Training Coordinator at (907) 762-2852.

Alaska Advanced Trauma Training Institute

Each year, the Alaska Advanced Trauma Training Institute features state and national experts who share about the latest research and advances in the neurobiology of traumatic stress, trauma-informed systems, and clinical interventions for complex trauma in children and adults.

This event is hosted by the Alaska Child Trauma Center with support of the State of Alaska, Division of Behavioral Health.

Please check back for information about the 2019 Trauma Institute.

Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Project

In partnership with the State of Alaska’s Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems and the Office of Children’s Services, the Alaska Child Trauma Center is offering early childhood mental health training and technical assistance to organizations seeking to develop and/or expand mental health services for young children and their families. Organizations that are committed to developing early childhood mental health services are encouraged to apply to receive on-site training and consultation.

There is no charge to participate in this project. To be considered eligible, applicant organizations must currently provide mental health services to children in Alaska. Please note: This opportunity is available to organizations, not individual providers, and only letters of interest from organizations will be considered.

The 2017-2018 application window for this project is now closed. Please check back for future application opportunities.
