ACMHS is 40!
ACMHS began providing outpatient services for severely mentally ill adults and housing supports in the 70s
We added children’s outpatient behavioral health services, school based services, adult daycare services in the 80s.
We changed our name to Southcentral Counseling Center in the early 1980s
We added additional housing supports, more programs for children with severe emotional disturbances in the 90s
We added Bring the Kids Home services in the 00s, including services for Transitional Aged Youth.
We changed our name back to Anchorage Community Mental Health Services in 2004.
So far in this decade, we have expanded our services for chronically inebriated homeless population and transitional aged youth. and set up shop in Fairbanks.
Over the years, ACMHS has seen a few executive directors and hundreds of clinicians and case managers come through our doors. Together these alumni shaped the programs that exist today, providing the very best consumer driven behavioral healthcare services to the community of Anchorage. We have suffered tough losses when funding cuts led to program cuts and celebrated big successes when innovative programs were brought online with our funding partners such as the State of Alaska DHHS and AHFC.
Join us for a celebration and a look back at all we have accomplished together.
