2015 what a year for ACMHS/FCMHS/AYA!

Wellness For Everyone!

2015 was a year of many successes for Anchorage Community Mental Health Services, Fairbanks Community Mental Health Services and Alaska Youth Advocates (ACMHS/FCMHS and AYA).  In addition to strengthening our ties to the Fairbanks community and celebrating our second anniversary of providing services in Fairbanks, we started remodeling for the Seeds of Change project in Anchorage as well as expanding our vocational services for adults.    Looking ahead to 2016, we will be relying on you, our supporters to assist us in helping to provide stable homes, success in school and work and reconnecting to community.

Seeds of Change will be opening in 2016.  This project is 10 years in the making and will provide fresh local produce, grown by young adults coming out of the foster care and treatment systems and transitioning into adulthood by learning marketable skills.

Vocational services will be expanding in Fairbanks and Anchorage with the help of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and employers.

Our child and family programs reorganized to serve more families more quickly resulting in an 80% reduction in wait lists.  Anchorage and Fairbanks lack sufficient resources to serve children with behavioral issues so ACMHS/FCMHS are striving to meet the need.  Little Tykes, the therapeutic day program for preschool-age children in Anchorage will be opening a second classroom in January 2016.  This will double the number of children being served and ensure that more kindergartners start their elementary school experience ready and able to learn.

Medicaid expansion provides many of our adult consumers with health insurance for the first time.  As a result, expansion will allow ACMHS and FCMHS to serve more.  Medicaid covers the cost of health care. Help is needed with purchasing such essentials as food, clothing and housewares for families as well as adults transitioning from homelessness to being housed.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation.  You can designate to a specific program or make a general donation.

Thank you for supporting ACMHS/FCMHS/AYA.
