Job Title:   MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Large, financially stable behavioral health provider is seeking a F/T director to lead its outpatient psychiatric and medical services into the future. Position vacancy located in Anchorage, Alaska. Anchorage has a population of approximately 260,000 and offers a cultural setting, great schools and myriad all-year outdoor activities. Supervised by the Chief Executive Officer, the Medical Director has the authority and responsibility for the medical/psychiatric services of the Company to include: supervising of all psychiatric care including supervision of psychiatric staff persons (physicians and advanced nurse practitioners); medical oversight of nursing services; consultation with units and clinicians concerning individual clients; and providing direct psychiatric services. Entrepreneurial opportunities resulting in future program and resource development are fundamental expectations of this position.

Requires medical degree from an accredited medical school; certification by American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology; current unrestricted Alaska Medical License & Federal DEA number. Five years practice in the field of psychiatry in community setting preferred. Two years of relevant management and supervisory experience preferred. Ability to work within interdisciplinary teams; ability to work within a framework of both administrative and medical models; demonstrated skill working with adults clinical psychiatry & ability to work with chronically mentally ill. Requires use of personal vehicle and a satisfactory driving record. Must be computer literate and have experience using Excel, Word or other similar programs.
